The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has submitted its financial statement for the 2024 calendar year to the Election Commission (EC), detailing the party’s income, expenditure, and current bank balance.

According to the report, the BNP earned a total of Tk 15.65 crore in 2024 and spent Tk 4.80 crore during the same period. The party currently maintains a bank balance of Tk 10.85 crore.

A BNP delegation, led by Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, submitted the financial report in person at the EC headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Sunday.

Speaking to the media following the submission, Rizvi said, “Those who once destroyed democracy may now attempt to sabotage the upcoming election. It is the government’s responsibility to prevent such conspiracies.”

He expressed hope that the current Election Commission would uphold its constitutional mandate by conducting a free, fair, and inclusive election. “The people of Bangladesh have been deprived of their voting rights for the past 15 years. They have waited long to cast their votes. We believe this commission has the opportunity to deliver a credible election,” he added.

Rizvi also criticised the ruling Awami League, accusing it of manipulating previous elections by appointing individuals lacking independence to the Election Commission. “The former fascist regime not only crippled the electoral process but also dismantled state institutions,” he alleged.
