BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is planning to visit some district and divisional headquarters in the coming days. As part of the plan, she will visit Rajbari district today (Saturday) and address a public rally in the district town in the afternoon.
Khaleda Zia’s Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel said that the former premier would leave the capital for Rajbari at 11:00 am and address a rally there at 3:00 pm in the district town. The BNP-led 19-party alliance will organise the rally and senior leaders of the alliance will also address the programme.
It will be first visit of the BNP chief to a district after the January-5 polls. A good number of people from Rajbari, Kushtia, Faridpur and
other adjoining districts are expected to join the rally, to be held at Shaheed Abdul Aziz Khushi Railway Maidan.
Khaleda Zia may give a guideline about the next course of action in the 19-party’s movement in her speech. She will also visit some other districts in the coming days, said party insiders.
Khaleda Zia is planning to reorganise the party in all levels in a bid to force the government for holding the mid-term polls under a non-party caretaker government. She is beginning the district tour today as part of her plan to reorganise the party and mobile the people for the fresh agitation, said the party leaders.
The party standing committee member Lt Gen (Retd) Mahbubur Rahman in this regard said that the Khaleda Zia’s schedule of the district tour has not been fianlised till now, yet she plans to visit some district headquarters and address rallies in the districts.
The party Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed said, the BNP-led alliance is now busy with the upazila elections. The UZ election is a part of the movement and after the election and restoration of democratic valley.
