The Police arrested two persons including BNP’s Barisal Metropolitan Unit member secretary Md. Ziauddin Sikder for entering the Supreme Court premises with legal weapons. Although both of them had valid renewed weapons licenses, they were detained due to a ban on carrying weapons in the court premises.
The two were arrested separately on Sunday by the Special Branch (SB) of the police , August 3. Later, BNP leader Ziauddin Sikder was handed over to Shahbagh Police Station after interrogation.
On the other hand, the Supreme Court Unit of the DMP released Molla Mosleh Elahi (57), a press businessman from Rupchan Lane in Sutrapur, on bail after being arrested around 10 am.
According to police sources, Ziauddin Sikder came to Dhaka to participate in a program of the Chhatra Dal. He went to meet a bench officer at the Supreme Court. On the other hand, Molla Mosleh Elahi went to the court in a case related to the bail of a relative.
Both of them told the police that they were unaware that there was a complete ban on carrying weapons in the Supreme Court area. The police took immediate action as the matter was legally prohibited.
