BNP-Jamaat clash leaves 20 hurt in Cumilla

At least 20 people were injured in a clash between BNP and Jamaat activists over a Facebook post in Chauddagram upazila of Cumilla district on Monday night.

The incident took place at Lakshmipur village under Alkara union of the upazila.
At least 25 houses of BNP supporters were vandalized during this time.

Receiving the information, police and army members went to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chauddagram Police Station Hilal Uddin Ahmed said that police and army reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The situation is currently calm.
Local sources said that a rape case was filed against Jamaat supporter Mohammad Tarek Chowdhury in 2020.

A person named Hridoy, a BNP supporter, posted a Facebook post about the case on March 13.
On March 16, a clash took place between the groups over that Facebook post. A meeting was called on Monday night to resolve the matter. About 300 to 400 people from both sides attended the meeting. At one stage, they again locked into a clash.
