BNP Vice Chairman and former State Minister for Commerce Barkat Ullah Bulu said that attempts have been made to destroy the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) repeatedly. It has awakened under the ideals of Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia. This time, BNP has turned around under the leadership of Tarique Rahman.
He said these things as the chief guest at the rally organized by Sylhet District and Metropolitan BNP on Monday (September 1) on the occasion of the 47th founding anniversary of BNP at the Registry Ground.
He also said that President Ziaur Rahman, the great proclaimer of independence, established the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on September 1, 1978, with the aim of uniting the people with the nationalist ideals. Today is a day of joy, enthusiasm and inspiration for the Bangladeshi people. The party is committed to the policy of protecting the complete independence and strong sovereignty of Bangladeshi territory and making multi-party democracy permanent.
He said, “The sacrifices of the martyrs in the movement to restore democracy over the past century and a half will be worthwhile if we can ensure free and fair elections, good governance and justice. This should be our pledge on the auspicious occasion of the BNP’s founding anniversary. Let there never be a repetition of heinous horrors like disappearances, assassinations, extrajudicial killings, demonization of women and children, terrorism, extortion, corruption, and money laundering across the country. The newly emerging mob culture must be put to an end. Because it is a violent behavior outside the law, which creates fear and panic in the minds of the people.” The main goal of BNP is to protect the independence and sovereignty of the country and re-establish the trend of multi-party democracy, including alleviating the suffering of the people in realizing their rights. He added.
Under the chairmanship of Sylhet Metropolitan BNP Acting President Rezaul Hasan Kayes Lodi and jointly conducted by District BNP General Secretary Advocate Emran Ahmed Chowdhury and Metropolitan BNP General Secretary Imdad Hossain Chowdhury, BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Dr. Enamul Haque Chowdhury and Ariful Haque Chowdhury, BNP National Executive Committee Co-Organizing Secretary Miftah Siddiqui spoke as special guests.
