BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that the BNP has always believed in the politics of commitment. The party fulfilled its promises in the past, and this continuity will be maintained in the future as well.
He said this while speaking to journalists on Saturday.
Rizvi said that in the past, if a husband died, his wife used to receive pension benefits for 15 years. But in the 1990 BNP election manifesto, it was announced that if the husband died, the wife would receive pension benefits for as long as she remained alive. After the BNP came to power in 1991, then–Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia implemented that promise.
He said, “This has been BNP’s policy for a long time. If we return to power again, we will implement this policy once more.”
The senior BNP leader said that every promise made by Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will be fulfilled. Using modern technological advancements, he will turn each of his commitments into reality. “There will not be even the slightest deviation from his promises,” he added.
In response to a question from journalists, he said, “If we are expected to participate in elections, we must be allowed to prepare, hold meetings, and rallies. Otherwise, elections will remain like stars in the sky—visible but unreachable.”
Rizvi said that Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is maintaining communication with grassroots members through technology from abroad. He will return to the country at the right time because he loves the country and its people.
In Rizvi’s words, “He will return whenever he feels the time is right—there will be no obstacles.”
Also present at the time was BNP Joint Secretary General Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel.”
