BNP calls two-day black flag processions

The main opposition party-BNP- and its allies on Sunday announced a fresh agitation programme for two days after a two-week break.

The BNP has announced a two-day black flag procession programme to press home its demands for dissolving the ‘illegal’ parliament and releasing all the political prisoners, including its Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint-Secretary General of the party, announced
the programmes at a press conference at the central office of BNP in Naya Paltan of Dhaka.

He said that BNP would hold black flag processions in all the district headquarters of the country on January 26 and in all the divisional cities of the country on January 27.

“We are announcing a two-day black flag procession protesting against the unlimited increase in commodity prices, and demanding the release of all political prisoners including BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, withdrawal of all false cases and dissolving the illegal parliament,” he added.

BNP enforced agitation programmes until the day of general election held on January 7 but it did not give any program after that.

Meanwhile, BNP’s ally Liberal Democratic Party President Col. (retd) Oli Ahmed also announced the two-day black flag processions across the country for January 26 and 27 on the same demands.

Besides, 12-party alliances Co-ordinator Rashed Prodhan also announces the black flag procession on January 27 and 30 on the same demands.
