UNB, Dhaka :BNP spokesman Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday alleged that the government has formulated the National Broadcast Policy, 2014 in a bid to re-establish one-party rule by controlling the media.”The government is controlling the entire administration and the judiciary. Now they’ve formulated the broadcast policy to annihilate democracy by censoring the media, the most powerful pillar of democracy,” he said.Addressing a discussion, Fakhrul also said, “The government has framed the policy ignoring public opinions to reestablish one-party Baksal rule as it lost grounds beneath its feet.”National Democratic Party (NDP) arranged the programme on the National Broadcast Policy at the Jatiya Press Club, marking the 6th death anniversary of ex-information minister Anwar Zahid.Fakhrul, also the BNP acting secretary general, warned the government that no power could survive against the will of people in the past, not even Namrud, Feraun, Hitler, Ayub Khan and Ershad in Bangladesh.He urged the government to hold a fresh and fair election immediately under a non-party administration for establishing a government with people’s mandate.NDP president Khandakar Golam Murtaza, general secretary Alamgir Majumder, Islamic Party chairman Abdul Mobin and Jatiya Ganatantrik Party president Shafiul Alam Prodhan were, among others, present at the programme.
