After the fall of its long-time political rival, the Awami League-led government, the BNP has initiated discussions with its political partners to formulate new strategies for the evolving political landscape.
On Friday, the BNP began its scheduled talks with its allied political parties.
The first day of discussions was held at the BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan Office, where the party met separately with Gonoforum, Bangladesh People’s Party, and NAP Bhashani.
BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury stated that key issues discussed included the current political climate, attempts by vested interests to create unrest in various industries, the 31-point reform proposal, and upcoming elections.
“This is the first time we have met with the parties that participated in the simultaneous movement since the fall of the Hasina government. We aim to preserve the unity that was built during this movement,” Khosru said after the meetings.
He also mentioned ongoing conspiracies in the country, with efforts to disrupt industries such as garment and pharmaceutical factories. “We are working collectively to prevent any destabilization of the country and its economy,” he added.
Khosru emphasized that all allied groups are committed to building a new Bangladesh in line with the promises they made, and they fully support the Interim Government.
The 31-point reform proposal, which seeks to repair the state, was also a significant topic of discussion. Khosru affirmed, “We will take these 31 points to the people, as they demand reform.”
Gonoforum President Mostafa Mohsin Montu stressed the need for national unity after the meeting. People’s Party Chairman Babul Sardar Chakhari and NAP Bhashani Chairman Azharul Islam led their respective delegations.
BNP leaders Amir Khosru and Barkat Ullah Bulu participated in the meetings on behalf of the party.
