BNP Vice Chairman Advocate Ahmad Azam Khan said, we are committed to restore democracy in Bangladesh unitedly. Because democracy is a universal value that recognizes people’s free expression and unhindered expression of ideas. We are determined to build such a safe, progressive and democratic Bangladesh, which will contribute to global democratic development beyond national boundaries.

InshaAllah we will build a Bangladesh that ensures prosperity and self-reliance of future generations, inclusive and liberal political environment and social status and justice. M Saifur Rahman, the son of Sylhet, has played a brave role in the economic development of the country, I remember him with respect.

The Awami League government has disappeared 522 BNP leaders and activists, including Sylhet’s brave hero M Elias Ali. We want to find them immediately. He told the interim government that the people of the country could not vote for 17 years. After completing the necessary reforms, announce the electoral road map.

He said, the timeless philosophy of martyred President Ziaur Rahman was at the core of Bangladeshi nationalism multi-party democracy – based on equality, human dignity, freedom of individual and speech and social justice. This thought and philosophy was pioneered by BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in an uninterrupted path of uncompromising struggle.

The brutal dictators have tried to destroy the multi-dimensional democracy through repeated violent attacks on the democratic Bangladesh founded on popular aspirations. Against the backdrop of the continuous struggle of the country’s leader Begum Khaleda Zia for a decade and a half, the worst dictatorship in history fell on August 5 in the world-shaking popular uprising of the students last July.

He said the above words in his speech as the chief guest at the rally organized by Sylhet division BNP on the occasion of International Democracy Day on Tuesday in a large gathering at Aliya Madrasa ground.

In the President’s speech, Central BNP Co-Organizing Secretary and Metropolitan BNP Acting President Miftah Siddiqui said that democracy is universal and does not belong to any country or region.

In a democratic society, the dignity of the individual is upheld. People cannot be made slaves in a democratic system. Only in a democratic state-society are the rights of the people guaranteed. All aspects of life, including their own political, economic determination, socio-cultural system, are spontaneously fully manifested based on the free will of the people.
