BMU’s TK 976cr budget for FY26 approved

The annual budget of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) of TK 976 crore 11 lakh 5 thousand for the fiscal year 2025-2026 was approved on Saturday by the university’s Syndicate.
The budget for this fiscal is TK 175 crore 12 lakh 70 thousand higher than of the budget for the fiscal 2024-2025 year, which was TK 800 crore 98 lakh 35 thousand. The projected budget deficit stands at TK 127 crore 87 lakh.
The budget was approved at BMU’s 97th Syndicate meeting, held at the university’s Shaheed Dr Milton Hall, with Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Shahinul Alam in the chair. The budget was presented by the University’s Treasurer, Professor Dr. Nahrin Akhtar.
In the budget, TK 37.10 crore has been allocated for research, while TK 1.10 crore for training, totalling TK 38.20 crore for the research and training sector, reports BSS.
Besides, TK 87 crore has been earmarked for the medical and surgical (MSR) sector, while TK 217 crore 32 lakh and 50 thousand for student merit scholarships.
Further allocations include TK 9 crore for public works, while TK 25 crore 2 lakh and 50 thousand for goods and services, TK 40 crore 2 lakh and 50 thousand for machineries (capital) sub-sector, and TK 23 crore for cleaning.
On the other hand, TK 233 crore 26 lakh 31 thousand has been allocated for salaries, while TK 190 crore 27 lakh for allowances, and TK 45 crore 15 lakh 24 thousand for pension grants.
