The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rainfall in several parts of the country, including Dhaka division, starting Friday. The rains are expected to coincide with the ongoing winter season, potentially intensifying the cold weather across the region.
“Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely at places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions during next 72 hours commencing 6am of 20 December,” said a Met office bulletin on Tuesday.
The low pressure area lies over central parts of South Bay of Bengal and adjoining area, its associated trough extends up to North Bay, it said.
Ridge of sub-continental high extends upto West Bengal and adjoining area.
Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country in 24 hours from 9am on Tuesday.
Night temperature may rise slightly and day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Light to moderate fog may occur at places over the country during midnight till morning. Country’s lowest temperature was recorded at Tentulia at 09.01 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
