Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no. three as deep convection is taking place over North Bay and adjoining areas due to influence of the low pressure area over Northeast Bay that has intensified into a well marked low.
It now lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, said Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, the center of the well-marked low to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh.
Light to moderate rain/ thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna and Barishal divisions; at many places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka and Chattogram divisions and at a few places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Southern part of the country.
Mild heat wave is sweeping over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Tangail, Kishoregonj, Bogura, Rangpur, Sayedpur & Panchagarh and it may abate.
Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.
