Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan (BKSP) clinched title of the BRAC Bank Development Cup Women’s Hockey beating Kishoreganj district by 8-0 goals in the one-sided final held at Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in the capital on Saturday.
Skipper Arpita Paul opened an account scoring the first goal for BKSP in the eighth minute while Irin Akter Riya doubled the lead scoring the second goal for BKSP in the 11th minute of the match. Jakia Afroz Lima further widened the margin scoring the third goal for BKSP in the 14th minute while Arpita scored her second and fourth goal for BKSP in the 18th minute of the match.
Tonni Khatun scored the fifth goal for the winning team in the 22nd minute while Irin made the score line sixth in the 42nd minute and she again extended the lead scoring her third and seventh goal for BKSP in the 50th minute of the match.
Arpita completed the winners’ tally scoring her third and eighth goal for BKSP in the 56th minute of the match.
Earlier, Jashore district finished third position in the meet defeating Rajshahi district by 4-0 goals in the place-deciding encounter also held at the same venue.
Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) President and Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan was the chief guest and distributed the prizes after the final match.
BRAC Bank Chairman Meheriar M. Hasan was present as special guest in the prize distribution ceremony.
General Secretary of BHF Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Reazul Hasan, its Joint Secretary Kazi Abu Jafar Topon, Tournament Committee’s Secretary Bodrul Islam Dipu and other BHF officials were also present in the prize distribution ceremony.
Fardia Akter Ratri of Kishoreganj district was adjudged the best player of the competition while Arpita Paul of BKSP emerged as the highest scorer (30 goals) in the meet.
