Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum (BJAF) has demanded immediate withdrawal of all cases against BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
President of BJAF Advocate Zainul Abedin on Monday made this demand at a press conference at Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) yesterday.
“We demand immediate withdrawal of all case against Tarique Rahman, otherwise the lawyers’ community will again take to the street,” he said.
Advocate Zainul Abedin said different political parties and student-people were waging movement against the fascist government for the last 17 years and BNP and its Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman was leading the movement along with other political parties.
“All the cases filed against Tarique Rahman are political. Verdicts have been pronounced in some false cases as directed by chief of the fascist regime Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
“But, we’re observing with great concern that the authorities are yet to take any initiative regarding withdrawal of those political cases against him,” Zainul added.
He also demanded trial of the July mass killings accused including ousted Prime Minister Hasina after bringing her back to the country.
Zainul has called upon the interim government to complete all necessary reforms immediately and announce the electoral roadmap to restore the democracy in the country.
Replying to a question, BJAF Secretary General Barrister Kayser Kamal said, “the Judges of the apex court have breached the code of conduct and we demanded withdrawal of the oath-breakers and partisan judges.”
President of Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon said, “BNP has demanded withdrawal of the partisan judges and we have announced solidarity with the demand.”
