The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu has advised all Bangladeshi nationals residing in Nepal to remain indoors, either at home or in hotels, due to the prevailing emergency security situation.
The embassy issued a notice to this effect through its official Facebook page on Tuesday.

The notice said, all Bangladeshi nationals currently living in or stranded in Nepal are strictly advised not to go outside and to remain at their respective places or hotels. Additionally, in light of the emerging security situation, all Bangladeshi nationals planning to travel to Nepal are instructed to refrain from going there for the time being.

Apart from these, due to the ongoing student and public protests in Nepal, all international flights were suspended, and as a result, a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight with 114 passengers on board was not granted permission to land in Kathmandu on Tuesday afternoon and had to return to Dhaka.

Talking to the media, a Biman spokesperson said, “Our BG-0371 flight, operated by a Boeing-737, had to return as all international flights to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu were suspended until 12:30 am on Tuesday.”

The aircraft departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 12:30 pm as scheduled and was supposed to land in Kathmandu at 2:00 pm local time.

After circling in Kathmandu airspace for about 55 minutes, the flight finally returned to Dhaka and landed safely at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 3:45 pm.

The spokesperson said the Bangladesh national football team, along with 94 passengers, was scheduled to return on the same flight.

He added that Biman would arrange hotel accommodation in Kathmandu for the stranded passengers.
