In response to a recent incident involving an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has initiated precautionary inspections across its fleet of Dreamliner aircraft to reinforce flight safety and operational reliability.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the national flag carrier emphasized that while the cause of the Air India mishap is still under investigation; Biman’s engineering division has taken proactive measures to assess the health and integrity of its Boeing 787 aircraft systems.

The ongoing inspections focus on several critical components, including the engine fuel system, electronic engine control, electrical power system, and hydraulics, air conditioning, and flight control systems. Additionally, power assurance checks on the engines are being carried out to confirm full performance capability.

“Biman Bangladesh Airlines is fully prepared to promptly implement any maintenance directives issued by Boeing following the conclusion of the Air India investigation,” the statement said.

Biman currently operates six Boeing 787 Dreamliners-four of the 787-8 model and two of the larger 787-9 variant-on its international routes. The maintenance of these aircraft is conducted under the stringent guidelines of the Aircraft Maintenance Program approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).

According to the airline, the maintenance program is built on Boeing’s official Maintenance Planning Document and includes detailed schedules, task lists, and procedures that are strictly followed by certified and type-rated engineers. Each maintenance activity undergoes a robust quality assurance process and is documented before being archived.

Biman also highlighted the use of advanced real-time monitoring technologies, such as the Aircraft Health Management (AHM) and Engine Health Management (EHM) systems, which enable continuous surveillance of aircraft conditions and help detect potential issues before they escalate.
“Passenger safety is our top priority, and Biman Bangladesh Airlines remains committed to upholding international standards in all aspects of maintenance and service delivery,” the airline reaffirmed.

The airline’s swift action underscores its commitment to aviation safety and passenger confidence, particularly at a time of heightened scrutiny surrounding the Dreamliner aircraft series.
