The devotees offered Eid-ul-Azha prayers in torrential rain at the historic Sholakia in Kishoreganj.
As per tradition, the jamaat. started at 9.am on Thursday with the sound of empty gun shots.
Islamic thinker Maulona Md. Hifzur Rahman Khan led the jamaat. The District Administration have taken 3 – tier security measures.
Members of BGB, RAB, Armed Police Battalion (APBN), plainclothes intelligence police and bomb disposal team were active in the Eidgah Maidan since morning. The entire Eidgah Maidan, including the watch tower, was covered by CCTV cameras. There was fire brigade, ambulance and medical team.
DC in Kishoreganj, Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad said after offering prayers here, two special trains were arranged for the convenience of pilgrims from far away places.
Police Super (SP) Mohammad Russell Sheikh PPM (Bar) expressed his satisfaction that the worshipers returned home after offering prayers without interruption.
He said, keeping in mind the unexpected attack on Eid-ul-Fitr in 2016, additional security measures were taken in the field this time as well.
Although the number of worshipers was less due to rain, there was no lack of security.
