Bid to kidnap DRU President

There was an attempt of abduction of Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) President Shahed Chowdhury on Sunday evening from the city’s Bijoy Swarani area by a gang of unidentified miscreants when he was on way to Gulshan from Bijoynagar. The DRU will hold a rally at National Press Club premises today (Monday) in protest against the incident.
DRU General Secretary (GS) Elias Khan said that an armed gang of miscreants blocked Chowdhury’s car near Bijoy Swarani in Tejgoan and tried to pick up him in another car. But their attempt failed as some vehicles reached the spot at the time when Chowdhury resisted their attempt. The miscreants managed to flee
from the spot. Shahed was stabbed by the miscreants when he resisted their attempt to abduct him, Elias Khan said.
The filing of a general dairy (GD) with the concerned police station was in progress, Ilias Khans aid.
