Leaders of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) have emphasised the need to further enhance and implement the U.S.-Bangladesh Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum Agreement (TICFA). During a meeting with U.S. Trade Representative Brendan Lynch and Trade Policy Analyst for South and Central Asia Emily Ashby at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday, BGMEA leaders focused on key issues related to bilateral trade between the two countries.

The BGMEA delegation was led by Administrator Anwar Hossain, with other members including former BGMEA President Faruque Hassan, former Senior Vice President Abdullah Hil Rakib, and BGMEA Support Committee Members Inamul Haq Khan Bablu, Asif Ashraf, and ANM Saifuddin, as stated in a press release.

During the meeting, Anwar Hossain provided an overview of the significant progress made by Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) industry in recent years. The BGMEA leaders also highlighted the advances made in workplace safety, workers’ rights, labour law reforms, and environmental sustainability.

They reiterated the industry’s commitment to ensuring the responsible growth of the RMG sector while meeting international standards. Both U.S. and BGMEA representatives expressed their commitment to continued collaboration, aiming for a more sustainable and worker-friendly future for Bangladesh’s RMG sector.

The meeting underscored the importance of productive dialogue through TICFA to further enhance bilateral trade and investment opportunities.
