The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has sought information from the masses regarding illegal infiltration of firearms into the country to disrupt law and order.
“Everyone is requested to provide information to the BGB over toll free number 01769600555 to prevent smuggling illegal weapons into the country,” said a BGB press release.
Recently, it was learned that some unscrupulous groups are trying to smuggle illegal firearms with the aim of disrupt the law and order situation in the country, it said.
Based on own intelligence, the BGB in the last three months seized 16 domestic and foreign pistols, two revolvers, two SMGs, five rifles, 16 domestic guns, three shotguns, three mortar shells, eight hand grenades, 27 other weapons, 21 magazines and 1003 rounds of ammunition of various weapons.
The release added the BGB’s intelligence and operational activities have been fortified at the field level to prevent the infiltration of illegal weapons into the country along the border.
