Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Monday thwarted an alleged attempt by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to construct a barbed-wire fence near the zero point along the Dahgram border in Patgram upazila, Lalmonirhat district.
Subedar Lutfur Rahman, commanding officer of Panbari Company of BGB 51 Battalion, said the members of the Arun Camp of the 6th BSF Battalion of West Bengal attempted to build a barbed-wire fence with iron rod near Sardar Para area on Monday morning.
Being informed, BGB officials rushed to the spot and asked the BSF members to stop building the fence.
Later, they stopped their work and left the place.
Subedar Lutfur said the BGB remains vigilant in this regard.
However, a tense situation has been prevailing in the area over the issue.
