BGB surveillance increased in Sylhet border areas

Surveillance has been increased at the Sylhet border due to the imposition of night curfew in three districts of India’s Meghalaya state bordering Sylhet. In this situation, the BGB has increased its activities at the border to stop illegal infiltration and smuggling into India.
On Saturday, BGB (48th Battalion) Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Nazmul Haque confirmed the matter.
He said that the government of that country has imposed a night curfew in three districts of India’s Meghalaya state bordering Sylhet. This is their internal matter. However, in this situation, the BGB has increased its surveillance so that no one tries to infiltrate into India and gets involved in smuggling. At the same time, the BGB is also working to make people in the border areas aware.
Earlier, on Thursday (May 8), the East Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills district administrations of Meghalaya state, India, imposed this curfew. A copy of the order has been sent to the Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet.
On Saturday (May 10) morning, Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad confirmed the matter and said, “The Jaintia Hills district administration of India, bordering Gowainghat in Sylhet, has imposed a night curfew.
