BGB meets journos, locals to ensure border security, prevent smuggling

A view-exchange meeting between the members of Border Guard Bangladesh ( BGB) and local people and journalists was held on Sunday at Lengura high school premises in Kalmakanda upazila of Netrakona district .
31 battalion of BGB in Netrakona organised the meeting with a view to collect suggestions from the local people and journalists on “What to do for ensuring border security and stoppage of smuggling in the border area”.
Sector Commander of BGB, Mymensing sector Col Sarker Mustafijur Rahman addressed the meeting as chief guest while commanding officer of 31 BGB battalion Lt Col ASM Kamruzzaman was in the chair.
The meeting was addressed, among others, by acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer(UNO) of Kalmakanda upazila Shahidul Islam, assistant director of BGB 31 battalion Awal Hussain and officer -in-charge (OC) of Kalmakanda police station Firoj Hussain and member secretary of Netrakona press club Mahabubul Kibria Chowdhory Halim.
Speaking at the meeting, the chief guest sector commander of BGB Mymensing sector Col Sarker Mustafijur Rahman said, the BGB members have been putting in their best and sincere efforts for maintaining law and order in the bordering area of the district and curbing all sorts of crime, terrorism and smuggling there.
In this context, he sought whole-hearted cooperation of local people and journalists to create massive awareness against all sorts of crime, terrorism and smuggling among the people living in the frontier area. The BGB 31 battalion also setup a day-long free medical camp at the Lengura high school premises for providing treatment and supplying medicines to the local people at free of cost.
Sector commander of the BGB Mymensing sector Col Sarker Mustafijur Rahman formally inaugurated the medical camp.
