Mymensingh and Sherpur under the jurisdiction of the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB), security arrangements have been strengthened to ensure the peaceful celebration of SharadiyaDurgotsav for Sanatan religious devotees.
As part of the security measures, the Mymensingh Battalion (BGB-39), led by Captain Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Hasan, visited various Puja mandaps in the district.
On Wednesday at 11 AM, the commander visited several temples and Puja Mandaps, including the Central Durga Temple under the HaluaghatUpazila Municipal Corporation.
During the inspection, Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Hasan was accompanied by local journalists, leaders of the Central Temple Management Committee, and officials of the Press Club.
Following the visit, the commander stated that the autumn Durga festival will be celebrated peacefully within 8 kilometers of the border area. To ensure this, BGB has heightened all security measures. Patrolling activities are ongoing in border areas to maintain law and order.
He further emphasized that the BGB is on high alert to prevent illegal infiltration, smuggling, and any potential acts of sabotage. A monitoring cell has also been set up to provide immediate assistance if required.
Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Hasan called upon the conscious members of the community to cooperate in ensuring an uninterrupted and peaceful celebration of Durga Puja.
Subhash Chandra Dutta, President of the Haluaghat Central Durga Temple, expressed that, in addition to government efforts, various political, social, and cultural organizations have extended their full support for the festival.
This year, Durga Puja will be celebrated in 54 pavilions across 12 unions and 1 municipality of HaluaghatUpazila.
To ensure the smooth celebration of the festival by the Sanatan religious community, the police, BGB, and Ansar forces will be deployed. The Upazila administration has also ensured comprehensive security, including CCTV coverage at every pavilion.
