BGB hands over detained BSF man on C’nawabganj border

A member of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF), who was detained for alleged trespassing into Bangladesh through Johorpur border in Chapainawabganj, has been returned.
The detained BSF member was identified as Ganesh Murti from India’s Nurpur 71 BSF camp, confirmed a press release sent to the media by Lt Col Fahad Mahmud Rinku, commanding officer of the 53 BGB.
BGB handed over him to Indian authorities (BSF) around 11:30 am on Wednesday, after a flag meeting on Johorpur border in Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila.
Earlier in the morning, locals detained the BSF member from the border area in the Sadar upazila around 8:00 am.
Upon receiving the news, BGB took him into custody.
Lieutenant Colonel Fahad Mahmud said locals captured Ganesh Murti when he crossed into Bangladesh territory through Satrasia area on Johorpur border, carrying arms and ammunition. BGB patrol teams later rescued him and brought to their outpost. He was drunk at the time of detention.
