To ensure a secure and fair environment for the upcoming Upazila Parishad elections, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has deployed 418 platoons across the country, officials announced on Tuesday.
The 6th Upazila Parishad polls kick off on Wednesday, with these BGB deployments fulfilling requests from local administrations seeking to maintain peace and order during the voting process.
Md Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer of the BGB, confirmed the deployment details.
He explained that these 418 platoons will act as a mobile and striking force, patrolling election areas from May 6th to May 10th.
“We have deployed 418 platoons based on the local administration’s demands,” said Islam. “Additionally, several more platoons are on standby for rapid response if needed.”
