BGB Day observed

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Day-2025 was observed with due solemnity and grandeur.

On this occasion, at 6:32am on Monday, BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafulzzaman Siddiqui formally hoisted the BGB regimental flag at the DG’s office in the Pilkhana headquarters. At 6:50am, he paid floral tributes at ‘Seemanta Gaurav’ to honour the valiant martyrs of the great Liberation War, says a press release.

Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd), Adviser to the Honourable Interim Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for Home Affairs, graced the main dais at the Shaheed Shakil Ahmed Hall in Pilkhana headquarters, on Monday.

He personally pinned medals on personnel in recognition of their exemplary contributions to the force. This year, 72 members were honoured: 12 with the Border Guard Bangladesh Medal (BGBM), 24 with the President’s Border Guard Medal (PGBM), 12 with the Border Guard Bangladesh Medal for Service (BGBMS), and 24 with the President’s Border Guard Medal for Service (PGBMS).

Following the medal presentation, the Adviser felicitated BGB’s gallantry-awarded freedom fighters and their families with gifts and assurances of full support in the future. Senior Secretary to the Home Ministry Nasimul Gani and BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafulzzaman Siddiqui were present on the occasion. Later, the Adviser planted a tree in the headquarters nursery and signed the VIP register at Seemanta Kunja. At 1:00pm, he joined the central feast arranged for BGB Day at the Bir Uttam Khondkar Fazlur Rahman Multipurpose Shed.
