Shakhawat Hossain Bhuiyan (Shahin), Member of the BFF Executive Committee, openly called for Cabrera’s resignation.
After Bangladesh’s 2-1 defeat to Singapore in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers at the National Stadium, criticism of national team head coach Javier Cabrera has intensified.
“As a member of the National Team Committee, I want Cabrera to resign. I came here with the agenda to remove him,” Shahin said.
BFF is not taking any immediate action regarding Coach Cabrera. Addressing the issue, BFF President Tabith Awal said, “We follow a standard process. We will hold discussions with everyone involved with the national team, including the coaching staff. A decision will be made after a thorough evaluation. It wouldn’t be appropriate to comment further at this stage.”
“We are already playing friendlies against decent opponents, but we aim to face even stronger sides,” he said. “The more we play against high-caliber teams, the better our performance level will become.”
Tabith responded, “This is an internal matter of the executive committee. We will discuss it among ourselves. Any decision regarding the coach will be officially announced.”
Cabrera’s current contract runs until April 2026, covering the remainder of the Asian Cup Qualifiers.
.At a stakeholder meeting was held on Saturday (14 June) at the RAOWA Club in Dhaka, BFF President Tabith Awal and several executive committee members openly discussed various aspects of the national team’s development and long-term goals.
