BDJA gets new EC with Zahirul Rana as President, Sohail GS

43-member executive committee of Dhaka-based Barishal Divisional Journalists’ Association (BDJA) has been formed with Zahirul Haq Rana (BSS) as the President and Mainul Islam Sohel of the daily Inqilab as the general secretary.

The new executive committee was made for a two-year term in a meeting at Jatiya Press Club today unanimously, said press release this evening.

The meeting, chaired by Zahirul Haque Rana and conducted by Mainul Hasan Sohel, saw unanimous approval of the committee members. The newly formed committee includes representatives from various media outlets, aiming to strengthen the association’s activities and support journalists from the Barisal division working in Dhaka.

The other committee members are: Vice-Presidents- Nasir Al Mamun of Daily Ajkal, Mohammad Monowar Jahan Kabir of Dinkal, Shafiqul Islam Shamim of Daily Inquilab and Gazi Anowar of The New Nation.

The joint general secretaries are Mehdi Azad Masum of Baishakhi Television, Munsi Sahidul Islam Rana of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangtha (BSS), Mizanur Rahman of Daily News and Jawhar Iqbal Khan of Bangladesher Alo.

Besides, Jakir Hossain (Treasurer) of Ajkaler Alo,  Md Mazharul Islam (Organizational Secretary) of SamoBangla,  News Today,  Rafiq Mridha (Assistant-Organizing Secretary) of Dinkal, Mizan Sajahan (Office Secretary) of ATN Bangla), Aminul Islam (Publicity Secretary) of ATN News, Maryam Moni Sejuti (Women’s Affairs) of Bholer Kagoj, Niaz Mahmud Sohel (Sports Secretary) of Bangladesh Today,  HM Al-Amin (Cultural Secretary) of Daily Porjobekhhan , Shamim Howlader (Information and Research Secretary) of Naya Diganta have been elected.

Executive members are: Abdus Salam Howlader Bachchu (Bangladesh Today), Rezaul Karim Babul (Sorasori), Rafiq Ullah Sarkar (Daily State), Rafiqul Islam Sujan (Jugobarta), Shah Alam Dakua (Notun Sangbad), Masum Billah (Diganta Television), Masum Mizan (Samay, JIlani  Milton (Naya Dignata ) Kamrul Islam (Samokal), Horolala Roy Sagor (Bhorer Kagoj), Mahmuda Doli (Amar Desh), Taposi Rabeya Akhi (Desh Rupantor), Mujahirul Haq Rumel  (71 Television), Sairas Mahmud (GTV), Mizanur Rahman Sabuj (Bangla Vision), Boshir Ahmed Khan (Janobani), Mohsin Swapan (Mukta Khabor), Zinia Kabir Suchona), Farrukh Babu (Bangla Vision), Shakil Ahmed (Somoyer Alo ), Md Ziaur Rahman (Notun Kagoj), HR Shafiq (Sakaler Sangbad) and Mehdi Hasan (Rupchhaya).

Aims and Objectives:

The newly formed committee aims to address the professional and welfare-related issues of journalists from the Barisal division working in Dhaka. The association also plans to organize training programs, workshops, and cultural events to foster unity and professional development among its members.

Closing Remarks:

In his closing remarks, President Zahirul Haque Rana expressed his commitment to working for the betterment of journalists and strengthening the association’s role in the media industry. General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel thanked the members for their trust and vowed to work diligently to fulfill the committee’s objectives.

The formation of the new committee marks a significant step forward for the Barisal Division Journalists Association, Dhaka, as it seeks to enhance collaboration and support among journalists from the region.
