Sports Reporter :
The first ever SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship is going to be held from January 13 to 25. Bangladesh are looking to achieve positive results in this tournament. In a press conference before leaving Dhaka on Friday, Captain of Bangladesh Women’s Futsal team Sabina Khatun set her sights on achieving good results in Bangkok, Thailand.
Seven countries are participating in this women’s tournament. Apart from Bangladesh, the six participating countries are Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh will play their first match against India. Then Sabina & Co will play against Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Maldives.
Sabina Khatun said at the BFF House on Thursday, “I have a special softness about Futsal. I was the first female footballer from Bangladesh to play abroad, and I went to play Futsal at that time. I can represent the country in SAFF, take it to a good position, it will be a little easier for the next generation who will come.”
Bangladesh will also play a warm-up match in Bangkok first. Sabina’s clear message about the results of the SAFF Futsal Championship is, “Actually, we have no idea about any team. But if you look at the Maldives, I can definitely say that they are quite experienced and the girls there mainly play Futsal. Maldives will be ahead of us and India are playing several qualifiers in Futsal, they are definitely always strong and their plans are always in place. The rest of the teams are new like us. However, we have been practicing for a little over a month. From that point on, I think we will do something good.”
