Bangladesh Women’s Football team will take on United Arab Emirates (UAE) Women’s Football team today in the first friendly match at Dubai in the UAE. The match will kick-off at 9:30pm (Bangladesh Standard Time).
Bangladesh women will face UAE women in the second friendly match at the same venue on March 2.
After clinching the winning title of SAFF Women’s Championship on October 30 at Kathmandu in Nepal, Bangladesh Women’s Football team will play an international match today.
Bangladesh Women’s Football squad left the city for UAE early morning of February 25.
Before leaving the country, the Bangladesh Women’s Football squad faced disaster. A total of 18 footballers including senior footballers captain Sabina Khatun, Ritu Porna Chakma, Sanjida Akter refused to take part in the practice session under Head Coach Peter Butler. Most of the footballers of rebel 18 booters were the members of Bangladesh Women’s Football squad, which became the champions in the SAFF Women’s Championship recently.
Later, Head Coach Peter Butler announced the 23-member Bangladesh Women’s Football squad without the rebel booters. Defender Afeida Khandakar will lead Bangladesh Football squad for the first time in absence of regular captain Sabina Khatun.
After reaching Dubai, the Head Coach and Bangladesh Football squad took rest for some time. After that the Women’s Football squad under Head Coach Peter Butler participated in their practice sessions on Tuesday evening.
