BD women face Lanka in SAFF U-20 Champ today

Bangladesh Under-20 Women’s Football team will face Sri Lanka Under-20 Women’s Football team in their fifth match of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-20 Women’s Championship at Practice Ground of Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital today.

The match will kick-off at 7:00pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live from the match-venue. The competition is a round-robin league basis meet. The highest-point achiever team will be the champions of the competition.

Defending champions Bangladesh women bagged maximum 12 points from four matches, while Sri Lanka remained with naught playing as many outings.

Bangladesh women have retained their supremacy with all-win record.
Nepal, the other contenders of the title of SAFF Under-20 Women’s Championship earned nine points from four matches.

Bangladesh made a formidable start defeating Sri Lanka 9-1 in their opening match at Bashundhara Kings Arena on July 11. Sagorika hit a hat-trick and her teammate Munki Akhter scored two goals and Shanti Mardi, Sapna Rani scored one goal each.

The red-and-green outfit beat Nepal by 3-2 goals in their second match at the same venue on July 13. Sagorika scored one goal and her teammate Trishna Rani netted one goal. Sogorika was showed red card and Simran of Nepal was awarded red card for unplayable attitude. Sagorika was suspended for three match by South Asian Football Federation. Thus, Sagorika could not play in the today’s match.

Bangladesh defeated Bhutan 4-1 in their third match of the Practice Ground of Bashundhara Kings Arena on July 15. Shanti Mardi hit a hat-trick and her teammate Munki Akhter scored one goal.
The girls of Peter Butler eased past Bhutan 3-0 in their fourth match at the same venue on July 17. Trishna Rani scored twice and her teammate Sapna Rani netted one goal. So, there are lot of scorers in Bangladesh Under-20 Women’s Football team.

Bangladesh will take on Nepal in their last match on July 21. Bangladesh need just a draw against them to clinch the championship title. It is a good news for the hosts that Sagorika will be available against Nepal.
