Bangladesh Under-17 Women’s Football team defeated Bhutan Under-17 Women’s Football team by three goals to one in their first match of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-17 Women’s Championship at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan on Wednesday.
Alpi Akter scored two goals and her teammate Sauravi Akanda Prity netted one goal while Choden of Bhutan pulled off one.
Bangladesh led the first half 1-0. Prity put her team ahead by a header using a volley of her teammate Alpi in the 2nd minute of the injury time of the first half. Alpi doubled the margin by a forceful shot using a through pass of her teammate Fatema Akter in the 54th minute of the game.
Bhutanese Choden reduced the margin in the 61st minute of the clash.
Alpi sealed the fate of the game by tapping the ball into the blank net using a corner of her teammate in the 65th minute of the match.
Bhutan got the first chance of the game in the fourth minute but Sonam’s shot was thwarted by Bangladeshi goalie Meghla Rani.
Prity got the ball on her way from a through pass of her teammate but Prity failed to find the net though she got the Bhutanese custodian alone in the 20th minute of the game.
After a few minutes Meghla Rani retuned a long-range shot of a Bhutanese forward.
Alpi got the ball from a through pass of her teammate and Alpi entered the D-box of Bhutan but her shot was saved by Bhutanese goalie in the 28th minute of the game.
Alpi’s header was cleared by a Bhutanese defender from the goalline in the 34th minute of the clash. Alpi got the ball from a corner kick of her teammate Mamoni Chakma.
Alpi entered the danger zone of Bhutan in the 37th minute but her shot was saved by Bhutanese goalie at the cost of a corner.
Umma Kulsum stormed into the Bhutanese D-box after dodging past three Bhutanese booters but her angular shot was saved by Bhutanese custodian for a corner in the 39th minute.
In the 42nd minute, Bangladesh was deprived from a goal as Prity’s shot was bounced bank from the crosspiece.
Purnima Chakma got a cross from her teammate Mamoni Chakma but Purnima’s power-packed shot was fisted by Bhutanese goalie in the 64th minute of the game.
Bangladesh will take on India at the same venue on August 22.
