BD women create history defeating WI in 2nd ODI

Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team created history as they defeated West Indies (WI) Women’s Cricket team by 60 runs in the second One Day International (ODI) match at Warner Park in Saint Kitts on Tuesday.

It was for the first time Bangladesh women won against West Indies women in the soil of West Indies. Thus, Bangladesh women made historic victory in their ODI campaign.
Electing to bat first, Bangladesh women piled up a satisfactory 184 in the 48.5 overs and then skittled out West Indies women for 124 off 35 overs.

Bangladesh made a good start with two openers Fargana Hoque and Murshida Khatun put on together 34 runs in the opening stand before Murshida Khatun (12) was caught by Mandy Manguru off Aaliyah Alleyne.

Nigar Sultana and Sobhana Mostary contributed together 51 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Sobhana Mostary was caught by Jannillea Glasgow off Karishma Ramharack when Bangladesh’s total was 107 for the loss of four wickets.

Nigar Sultana hit a terrific 68. His 120-ball captain’s knock was belted with five fours.
Sobhana Mostary scored 23 from 32 deliveries including one four and one six.

Nigar and Shorna Akter built another notable partnership scoring together 38 runs in the six-wicket stand before Shorna Akter was bowled out by Ramharack when Bangladesh’s score was 158 for the loss of six wickets.

Shorna Akter made 21 using 29 balls with two fours.
After Shorna’s dismissal, Bangladesh failed to build any notable partnership.
Ramharack captured four wickets at the cost of 33 runs, while Alleyne claimed three wickets instead of 24 runs.

Deandra Dottin, Cherry-Ann Fraser, Afy Fletcher took one wicket apiece.
Later, Bangladesh bowlers totally dominated over the Caribbeans batters.

Nahida Akter grabbed three wickets in the space of 31 runs. Nahida Akter was adjudged the Player of the Match. Fahima Khatun, Rabeya Khan and Marufa Akter claimed two wickets each giving 17, 19 and 35 runs respectively.

Shemaine Campbelle, Cherry-Ann Fraser, Hayley Mathews, Alleyne and Ramharack could reach double digit figures scoring 28, 18 (not out), 16, 15 and 13 runs respectively.
