Bangladesh Under-19 Football team will leave the city today to take part in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-19 Championship. The SAFF Under-19 Championship will be held at Arunachal of India.
Bangladesh Football team have billed in Group-A with Maldives and Bhutan. Bangladesh will take on Maldives on May 9, while face Bhutan on May 11. The two semi-finals will be held on May 16. The winners of the two semi-finals will face each other in the final on May 18.
Head Coach of Golam Rabbani Choton said, ” We have selected 35 booters in our preliminary squad. Then, we have selected 31 footballers and they took part in an intensive coaching camp in Jessore. I think we have a good preparation for the upcoming tournament.
They took part in a 21-day training camp before the forthcoming tournament. My boys are totally fit. The football lovers of the country expect that the boys will be the champions in the ensuing competition. I hope my boys will fulfill their eaxpectations.”
Captain of Bangladesh team Najmul Huda said, “We have left winger Abdul Kadir and Farzad Aftab in our squad. Abdul Kadir is a Bangladeshi-born Italian who has played in a fourth-tier of an Italy Football League. Farzad Aftab have played in a third-tier football competition of United States of America.”
Marking the upcoming football meet, a press conference was held at the conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation House on Monday. Head Coach of Bangladesh Under-19 Football team Golam Rabbani Choton, Manager of the team Jalal Uddin and Vice-President of BFF Naser Shahriar Jahedi spoke at the press conference.
