Reigning champions Bangladesh Under-19 Football team became runners-up in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-19 Championship after tasting a 3-4 goals defeat to India Under-19 Football team in the tie-breaker of the final at Golden Jubilee Stadium in Arunachal Province of India on Sunday. By virtue of yesterday’s victory, India emerged the champions in the meet.
India led the first half 1-0. Captain of India Singamayum Shami put his team ahead by a long-range free-kick in the 2nd minute of the play.
After the lemon-break, substitute Mohammad Joy Ahmed equalized the margin by putting the ball into the blank net at the small D-box in the 60th minute of the match.
As the hard-fought ninety-minute match ended in a 1-1 draw, the fate of the match was decided in the tie-breaker and India won the match by 4-3 goals margin.
