Bangladesh Navy’s annual maritime exercise, “Annual Sea Exercise-2025,” was successfully concluded on, Sunday, with a missile launch demonstration in the Bay of Bengal.
The closing day’s exercises were observed by esteemed dignitaries, including Admiral M Nazmul Hasan, Chief of Naval Staff, and several advisers to the interim government of Bangladesh across various ministries such as Home Affairs, Law, Parliament, Forestry and Climate Change, Water Resources, and Public Works.
The five-day exercise featured active participation from a considerable fleet of Bangladesh Navy ships including frigates, corvettes, OPVs, mine sweepers, patrol crafts, missile boats, along with maritime patrol aircraft, helicopters, and specialized naval forces. The Bangladesh Air Force, Coast Guard, and other maritime agencies also contributed both directly and indirectly.
Key phases of the exercise involved naval fleet tactical maneuvers, maritime surveillance, logistical operations, and coastal defense drills. Highlights on the final day included missile launches from naval vessels, shoulder-launched surface-to-air missile firings, anti-air rapid open-fire, rocket depth charge firing, UAV operations, naval commando exercises, helicopter visit board search and seizure (HVBSS), and various naval combat strategies.
The primary aim of the annual exercise is to safeguard the nation’s maritime sovereignty, protect marine resources, ensure the security of sea routes, prevent smuggling and piracy, conserve coastal biodiversity, and maintain maritime vigilance. The guests appreciated the professionalism, skill, and dedication of the participating officers and sailors and recognized the critical role of the Bangladesh Navy in protecting the country’s sea boundaries and contributing significantly to the national economy.
