‘BD marches to become middle-income nation’

Bangladesh has been marching fast to become a middle income nation following successful digitisation as a part of implementation of the Vision 2021 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Speakers said this at a post-rally discussion organised by District Information Office on ‘Charter of Changes: Vision 2021’ at Pirgachha upazila parishad auditorium Tuesday afternoon.
The main objective of the programme was aimed at informing the common people about the successes achieved by government during past six years, involving them with development activities, future vision and creating awareness on related social issues.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs Tipu Munshi MP attended the discussion as the chief guest with Pirgachha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Aliya Ferdous in the chair.
Upazila Vice-chairmen Shah Farhad Hossain and Manjuri Begum, President of upazila Awami League Abdul Hakim Sarder, Principal Nazrul Islam Raju, Officer-in-Charge of Pirgachha Thana Humayun Kabir, District Correspondent of Bangladesh Television Ali Ashraf, addressed as special guests.
Upazila level officials of all government departments, heads of educational institutions, NGO executives, public representatives, educationists, socio-cultural, women and human rights activists, entrepreneurs of UISCs, professionals and journalists participated.
Senior District Information Officer Humayun Kabir narrated the successes achieved in education, health, agriculture, power generation, women and children development, climate change adaptation, poverty alleviation, employment generation and spreading ICT during the last six years tenure of the present government.
He also discussed success achieved in social safety net, food security, institutionalising democracy, decentralisation of power, good governance, combating corruptions, family planning, nutrition, infrastructures, housing and many other sectors during the period.
The speakers said successful implementation of the Vision 2021 has made online digital facilities and information and communication technology (ICT) easily available at the union information service centres (UISCs), upazila and district web portals for all.
The people are easily getting necessary e-information, e-services and benefits through the UISCs on agriculture, health, medicare, education, sanitation, admission, human rights, legal aid, employment and marketing produce in a hassle-free manner.
The digital services have created public awareness on women empowerment, family planning, nutrition, birth registration, drug addiction, reproductive health, environment and movement against terrorism, militancy and corruption, eradication of dowry, child marriage, human trafficking, outsourcing and self-employments.
The chief guest said Bangladesh would become a middle income nation ahead of the year 2021 if the development activities in all sectors continue at the current pace for the next few years.
