Staff Reporter :

Bangladeshi man has been reported killed while fighting for the Pakistani militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He had left home a year and a half ago, telling his family he was traveling to Dubai, relatives said.

Seventeen members of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed on September 26 during an operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Pakistani broadcaster Samaa TV reported that one of the deceased was a Bangladeshi, though his name was not released.

Relatives in Madaripur identified the man as Faisal Hossain, after seeing photos posted on social media by Pakistani journalist Jawad Yousafzai and by Mahaz, a platform that tracks militant activity in Pakistan.

Faisal’s elder brother, Arman Hossain, confirmed that the slain militant was his brother after seeing a photo of him posing with a gun.

Arman told the international media outlet The Descent that Faisal left the country in March last year, saying he was going to Dubai for a job at a Hijama center. The family last spoke to him before Eid al-Adha. Since then, despite repeated attempts, it has not been possible to contact him.

Faisal’s father is an electrician and his elder brother Armaan works as a deliveryman for Pakistan-based online shopping service Daraz.

Pakistan-based journalist Jawad Yousafzai posted some pictures from the scene of the killing of TTP militants and wrote: Security forces have recovered a Bangladeshi ID card, money and other documents from the body of one of the slain militants in Pakistan’s Karak region.

A report published by The Descent in May said that at least four Bangladeshis have been killed fighting alongside militant groups against the Pakistani army in the past year. Following these incidents, Bangladesh police arrested at least two militants in Bangladesh in July on charges of involvement with Pakistan’s TTP
