Bangladesh has launched the “Climate Smart Education Systems Initiative” (CSESI), an eighteen-month programme aimed at integrating climate change adaptation and environmental sustainability into the country’s education system.
Bangladesh advances climate resilience in education through a new initiative integrating sustainability into policies, sector planning, budget, strategies, and school systems, reports a press release. Bangladesh is considered to be the eighth most vulnerable country to the impacts of climate change, with its children and youth among the most at risk from rising temperatures, frequent floods and extreme weather events, reports a press release.
In such a context, it is essential that every citizen, especially the younger generation, understands what climate change is, how it could impact their life and what they can do to combat it.
