Bangladesh Under-19 Women’s Cricket team finished runners-up in the Under-19 Women’s Asia Cup as they tasted a 41-run defeat to India Under-19 Women’s Cricket team in the final at Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia on Sunday. By virtue of yesterday’s victory, India women became the champions in the cricket meet.
Sent into bat first, India women piled up a fighting total of 117 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Bangladesh women scored 76 off 18.3 overs.
Bangladesh failed to make any notable partnership.
Wicketkeeper-batter Juairiya Ferdous and opener Fahomida Choya were the only two batters of Bangladesh who could reach the double digit figures.
Juairiya Ferdous made 22 from 30 deliveries featuring three fours.
Fahomida Choya scored 18 from 24 balls including two fours.
Aayushi Shukla captured three wickets at the cost of 17 runs, while Parunika Sisodia and Sonam Yadav bagged two wicket each instead of 12 and 13 runs respectively.
VJ Joshitha picked up one wicket for 11 runs.
Earlier, opener Gongadi Trisha notched up a superb 52. Her 47-ball innings was laced with five fours and two sixes. She was adjudged the Player of the Match for her outstanding innings.
Besides, Mithila Vinod, Niki Prosad and Aayushi Shukla scored 17, 12 and 10 runs respectively. Farjana Easmin restored some parity for her country grabbing four wickets in the space of 31 runs. Nishita Akter Nishi bagged two wickets instead of 23 runs and Habiba Islam took one wicket for 20 runs.
