Players of Bangladesh National Football squad, officials of the Team and the Bangladeshi journalists returned home from Nepal on Thursday afternoon.
The special flight of Bangladesh Air Force rescued them from Nepal and then they reached the Kurmitola Military Airport in the capital.
Bangladesh Football squad went to Nepal to play two FIFA International friendly matches against Nepal National Football team at Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. Bangladesh played a goalless draw with Nepal in the first FIFA International friendly match on September 6.
The second FIFA International friendly match was scheduled to be held on September 9.
But due to serious political unrest in Nepal, the second FIFA International friendly match between Bangladesh and Nepal was not held and was suspended by All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).
The flights of the different airlines were cancelled. The activities of Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal were not normal. The Bangladeshi footballers, officials and the journalists were stranded at Kathmandu. Later, the activities of Tribhuvan International Airport became normal for a limited shape.
The high officials of Bangladesh Football Federation, high officials of Bangladesh Air Force, high officials of Bangladesh Army received them at the Kurmitola Military Airport on the same day.
It is noteworthy that the Nepal Government fell due to the successful movement of the students and peoples. There were arson and burning attacks all over Kathmandu.
Even the hotel where the Bangladesh Football squad were staying in Kathmandu was near fire.
The footballers were a bit worried. They were mentally disturbed as they were confined to the hotel for two-three days.
President of Bangladesh Football Federation Tabith Awal said, “We shall appoint psychologists to give support to the booters as they can come out from trauma if it will be needed.”
