Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser to the Interim Government, has instructed that the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations be conducted strictly according to the annual calendar to maintain transparency and integrity.

The directive came during a meeting with officials of the Public Service Commission (PSC) at the State Guest House, Jamuna, on Sunday afternoon.

“The BCS exam is the entry point for those who will eventually run the government. If there is any irregularity at this entry point, it affects the entire system,” the Chief Adviser said.

“Existing problems and crises must be addressed responsibly, and necessary reforms should be implemented for the benefit of future administrators.”

The meeting also discussed granting financial and administration autonomy to the PSC.

The PSC Chairman Prof Dr Mobashwer Monem highlighted that a five-year roadmap has already been prepared, ensuring that exams and recruitments will be completed annually between November and the following October.

Acknowledging political interference, the PSC members said, “Political interference over the past 15 years had led to irregularities, favoritism, and question leaks in the BCS exams.”

They assured that reforms are now in place to restore trust, improve the quality of question papers, and equip candidates to compete at a global standard.

The meeting was attended by PSC Chairman Professor Dr. Mobashwer Monem, Senior Secretary Dr. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman of the Ministry of Public Administration, Chief Secretary Sirajuddin Mia, PSC members Md. Sujayet Ullah, Md. Jahirul Islam Bhuiyan, Professor Dr. M Sohel Rahman, Professor Dr. Chowdhury Saima Ferdous, Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr Md Anwarul Islam, Professor Dr Shahnaz Sarkar, and PSC Secretariat Secretary Dr Md Sanowar Jahan Bhuiyan.
