As the Public Service Commission (PSC) has issued the notification for the 47th BCS exam, a section of the applicants from previous three other batches have started movement demanding the postponement of the exam. Thus the upcoming 47th BCS exam is now in uncertainty.

Currently, the activities of the four BCS exams from the 44th to the 47th are in a mess.

The activities of the 44th BCS have not been completed even after four years, while the written examination of the 45th BCS was completed 15 months ago; but the results have not been published.

Controversy has also arisen over the results of the 46th BCS preliminary.

According to media reports, the notification for the 47th BCS was published in November last year.

Its preliminary examination is scheduled to be held on June 27 next.

However, candidates have already protested in front of the PSC demanding the postponement of the examination.

Some of their representatives have also held discussions with the commission officials.

Meanwhile, the PSC has planned to complete one BCS exam every year in the coming days. But it will not be possible to do so while keeping the previous three exams pending.

The new plan will have to be implemented after clearing the previous hurdles. Generally, three to four lakh applicants participate in a preliminary examination.

Out of these, 10 to 12 thousand pass the written examination, and after the viva (oral) examination, a final list is made for recruitment against the vacant posts.

The Public Administration Reform Commission, in the meantime, submitted a report to the government, where it recommended completing the BCS exam and the recruitment process within one and a half years.

For this, the commission has also decided to set an annual calendar for the preliminary, written, oral and psychological tests to be held during the year.

We do not think it would be right to postpone the preliminary exam due to the demands of a handful of candidates.

Postponing any one exam will have an impact on every subsequent exam.

Where there are many vacancies in government jobs, postponing the exam will mean increasing the uncertainty of job seekers. Therefore, we hope the PSC will be adamant about the exam schedule.
