DU Correspondent :
The Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling party Awami League, organised a massive rally countrywide in solidarity with the ongoing student movement worldwide in support of the people of Gaza and to demand the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Some thousands of leaders and activities of the organisation come from different universities, colleges, and schools in the capital. They marched out of the Madhur Canteen of Dhaka University (DU) carrying flags of Palestine, banners, and placards and came to the main venue of the demonstration at the Raju Scrupture Memorial. The BCL hoisted the Palestinians’ flag with Bangladesh flags behind the Raju Scrupture of Dhaka University, while this programme was held simultaneously at the educational institutes across the country.

At the rally, BCL President Saddam Hussain called on all the leaders, activists, and general students to stand by the oppressed people of the world, including the people of Gaza.

Issaq Nomura, a Palestinian student who studies in Bangladesh, also joined the rally. He said, “We have been oppressed for the last 75 years, and we are still being oppressed by the Israeli occupation forces. They are killing our women and children. They are committing genocide.”

Thanking the Bangladeshi students, he added that the movement, which the students of the University of Colombia initiated, has been spreading like a tide of water all over the universities in the world.

Saddam Hussain said, “The fire of movement and protest blazed from those countries that are supporting Israel and giving backup by providing weapons and money to attack Gaza. I strongly condemn those invaders who order to kill innocent people, who patronise attacks on teachers and students in the universities, who cancel the studentship of the students for speaking about the rights of the people of Gaza, and who patronise financial support to the war criminals.”

The BCL president also demanded justice for Israel and its allies by holding them as war criminals and humanitarian criminals.

Requesting to the people of the world to stand against the Israeli occupation, Saddam said, “My heartiest love and respect to those protesting young students who are being attacked, threatened, injured, and imprisoned for saying yes for Gaza and speaking against the aggression of Israel and its allies. The oppressed are raising their voices, and the truth will prevail soon, and we hope the criminals will be sentenced.”

BCL General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan expressed keen solidarity to stay with Palestinians and called upon the people of the world to bring peace to the world.
