In a resolute display of support for justice and human rights, the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League, has announced its solidarity with the global movement condemning human rights violations and crimes against humanity in Palestine.
Through a joint statement released on Saturday afternoon, the organisation affirmed its commitment to standing alongside students, teachers, and conscientious citizens worldwide in advocating for justice and peace in Palestine.
The statement, signed by the President and General Secretary of the Chhatra League, echoes the sentiments of unity and empathy expressed by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, stating, “The world is divided into two parts today.
One part is the oppressors; the other is the oppressed. I belong to the oppressed.” In alignment with Rahman’s principles, the student body pledges unwavering support to the ongoing global movement striving for justice in Palestine.
Expressing deep concern over the appalling atrocities inflicted upon innocent Palestinian citizens, the Bangladesh Chhatra League vehemently condemns the egregious human rights violations and the horrific killings perpetrated against defenceless civilians.
The organisation acknowledges the courageous efforts of students from diverse educational backgrounds who are leading protests against these injustices despite facing repression and torture. In a show of solidarity, the Chhatra League stands shoulder to shoulder with these brave activists.
Reflecting on its own history of struggle for freedom, the Chhatra League recalls the sacrifices made during the movement for the establishment of Bangladesh and subsequent endeavours to maintain democratic continuity.
The organisation commemorates the memory of around 17,000 activists who laid down their lives in the pursuit of freedom, underscoring the resonance between past and present struggles for justice and liberation.
