The local people have beaten up Rafiqul Islam, an activist of the banned organization Chhatra League, in Khulna and handed him over to the police.
The incident took place at around 9 pm on Monday , in the Khulna Alia Madrasa area.
The arrested Rafiqul Islam is the son of Shahjahan Sardar, a resident of Rupsa Ispahani Gali. He used to study at Alia Madrasa. Currently, he works at Rupsa Small Cooperative Society.
Locals said that when the Awami League was in power, Rafiqul tortured many innocent students on suspicion of Shibir. He beat up many and handed them over to the police. Angry people in the Madrasa area beat him up and informed the police.
In this regard, on Tuesday while contacted, Officer-in-charge of Khulna Kotwali Police Station OC Howlader Sanwar Hossain Masum told this Correspondent of The New Nation that the local people detained a young man named Rafiqul Islam and informed the police. Later, the police went and brought him to the police station.
