BCB announces Bangladesh squad for ICC T20 World Cup

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Thursday the 15-member Bangladesh squad for the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup.
The senior players have been included in the 15-member squad. Earlier, BCB announced 19-member squad for the five-match Twenty20 International (T20I) squad against New Zealand.
Promising cricketers Shamim Hossain, Afif Hossain and Nasum Ahmed have been called in the squad. Liton Das, Mohammad Naim, Mohammad Saifuddin, Shoriful Islam, Mahedi Hasan have been included in the World Cup squad for the first time. Taijul Islam and Mosaddek Hossain were dropped from the squad. The two stand-bys are: Rubel Hossain and Aminul Islam Biplob.
Shamim Hossain is the first cricketer who has got chance in the World Cup squad from Chandpur. Shamim Hossain is the son of Abdul Hamid Patwary of Faridganj upazila of Chandpur district. Shamim Hossain trained at Chandpur Clemon Cricket Academy for three years. Then he got admitted to the BKSP in Savar in 2015. Shamim was included Bangladesh Under-17 Cricket team, Bangladesh Under-18 Cricket team and Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team. Shamim was the member of the Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team, which emerged champions in the ICC Under-19 World Cup Cricket, which concluded recently.  
The eight teams splitting into two groups will take part in the ICC World Cup qualifiers. Bangladesh, Scotland, Papua New Guinea and Oman have been billed in Group-B, while Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands, Namibia have been placed in Group-A. The Group-B matches of the World Cup qualifiers will be held in Oman. Top two teams from each group will play in the final round of the ICC T20 World Cup. Bangladesh will take on Scotland on October 17, Bangladesh will face Oman on October 19, Bangladesh will meet Papua New Guinea on October 21.
The players, who have been chosen, are: Mahmudullah Riyad (Captain), Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das, Mohammad Naim, Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Shamim Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Mohammad Saifuddin, Shoriful Islam, Mahedi Hasan and Nasum Ahmed.
