Bangladesh Bank Governor AbdurRoufTalukder has resigned days after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government.
He tendered his resignation letter to the Financial Institutions Division secretary on Friday noon citing personal reasons, sources in the Division said.
However, Secretary of the Division AbudrRahman Khan made no comment about this.
Later, Governor AbdurRouf was contacted but his phone was found switched off.
Talukder is the latest to join a long line of officials from government, autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions who have resigned in the wake of the ouster of the Awami League-led government earlier this week.
Moreover, asked about Governor AbdurRouf’s resignation, newly appointed Finance Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed said that he was not aware of this.
According to Bangladesh Bank sources, he has not been attending office since former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country on 5 August in the face of a mass uprising led by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
